S'Only Me!

It has been about a decade ... In fact ... it may even be longer ... since I joined the keeper of the desks ... Missy Julia and all her loyal desk supporters in displaying me desk ... but here I am ... and here is me desk in all of it's ... erm ... glory! If you have n't a clue what I am on about ... just click here and you will be magically transported to one of the nicest groups of bloggers ... ever ... ever!
I know ... I know ... look!!! A day away from the start of December and I have a ray of sunshine! Usually I would ditch that photo ... but it is soooooo lovely to see ... I wanted to keep the moment! It's just such a shame that it is highlighting an ... erm ... mess ... but Hey Ho ... a girl can't have everything!

So ... what is on my desk apart from a mess ... well there is still my card from yesterday and the tag I played with aaaaaaages ago that led to the inspiration to the card! In fact ... I am feeling generous of spirit today in the old photo loading department ... so I will show you a close up of said tag! There is also a few unfinished objects ... but I am just going to brush over those ... I think they may be destined to remain unfinished for ... erm ... ever!
Talking of tags ... Lord Tim of Holtz Christmas tags start tomorrow ... Whoop Whoop ... I cannot wait ... and I have every intention of making the fifth year of my particiaption in said event as the first year that I actually finish them all :0) You know Tim ... the man that puts the shine into sunshine while walking on aeroplane wings with no support ... just a smudge of Jet Black Archival and a manilla tag!

Very Nearly Two!

It's true folks ... I find it hard to believe too ... Julia's brainchild WoYWW is indeed two next week ... Many Congratulations Julia ... who knew this little piece of fun would become so BIG!
Anyways I thought this was a good time to reminisce ...  so here goes ... I lurked for a while before taking the plunge ... I found the whole prospect of joining in with the whole desk thing a little bit daunting ... but join in I did ... this is not my desk today ... Oh No! I thought it would be fun to dig through my archive and without further ado ... this is my very first WOYWW ... we did n't need Mr Linky back in the day I can tell you :0)


OK! This is the deal ... this is my compromise!
If this is really a secret hand shake ... well I can hide it in the depths of my blog archive and no one will mind ... hopefully!
The day is Wednesday 19th August 2009 ... it is 12.53pm and my work desk looks like this!
Now don't go feeling sorry for me ... my craft room is 15ft by about 12 ft and there is more than enough room to put things away! I have a friend coming to play tomorrow and I really need to tidy up!
My third altered CD has gone horribly wrong ... look at this girl's teeth and my daughter's birthday is on Friday and I have n't made her a card yet ...
Oh my god ... this is like therapy ... I am going to stop before I tell you my deepest darkest secrets ...

Anyways ... that's me for today ... back to the present and I can't actually show you anything on my desk ... it is all secret squirrel stuff ...

Ye Days of Olde!

A long time ago on a desk not far from here ... OK ... it's the same desk in the same place ... but I am going for effect here ... *clears throat*
A long time ago on a desk not far from here ... before the wheel was even invented ... I used to pay weekly homage to Julia of Dunnit ... the illustrious leader of the desk march. Time passed and I lost my way ... I was trapped in a blinkered busyness that forbade me to enjoy the weekly desk perusal and the curse of guilt of not being able to return visits kept me trapped for a very loooooooong time! *Dims lights* Luckily I left a trail of Bedazzles and I managed to retrace my steps ... and here I am!

Yup WOYWWers ... remember me ... I am back! Well for this week any road! I have promised myself plenty of time to visit/nosey/heckle/envy my fellow deskians and I am unnecessarily excited about the whole prospect!
So ... fan fare please ... in true WOYWW style ... On my desk ... apart from the usual mess is the beginnings of a journal page and all the gubbings that I needed to get that far on said page! Obviously I have taken a break to chat to you lot ... but I may come back later if I get it finished!
I also have a little game for you guys to play ... see this glass jar ... gift from Korea ... and after the whole Green Tea Crisp fiasco ... if you missed it ... you can read all about it here ... I thought I would ask you ... What you think you should do with it! Answers on a postcard ... or just in the comments ... Yeah ... see ... this whole gift thing can be a bit of a minefield!
It really is good to be back ... look forward to seeing all your desks... and if you have no clue what I am on about ... all will be revealed here!

A Bit Tidier!

Tis true ... I have had a bit of a tidy up! It was through necessity really ... after being away the weekend before last ... well ... when I came back ... the place looked like a real tip and I could n't find a thing!

On top of that we have a viewing later today ... Oh yes ... the house is on the market and hopefully a lovely couple will turn up at precisely 1pm this afternoon and offer us full asking price :0) We are on the move ... to a new craft studio ... I say that knowing that you will take into consideration I have n't actually found aforementioned studio yet ... and of course ... John is digging his heals in ... as per usual ... and insisting that we get a kitchen too ... and a bathroom ... and at least 3 bedrooms ... and a garage ... his list just goes on and on and on!

So lovely WOYWWers ... I have done a spin and everything ... just so you get the full benefit of my ... erm ... tidying ... looky at my dies ... well my nice dies anyway ... I have a few old and very dodgy ones that are tucked away in a draw ... you will just have to make do with looking at the nice ones ... all lined up and easily accessible! The cutting station is even being used for cutting ... how is that for a turn up for the books!

Oh and I have one of Lord Tim of Holtz's configurations out and ready to play with ... boy am I impressed with the price and quality of these ... LOVE LOVE LOVE them already! You know Tim ... the man that can light up all of London's streets just by looking at them while he fills the needs of all the needy the world over with just a spritz of a perfect pearl mist and a wave of a manilla tag!

I must away ... I saw Mrs No Smoking Nurse earlier this week ... I am off to see Dr Whatsisname today ... I can't remember why ... but I am guessing all women of a certain age will understand :0)

WOYWW!

Hello WOYWWers … a quick one from me today … I am on a mission to visit you all this week … so I have n’t got time to sit here and ramble on like I usually do!

Ruby has n’t undergone any transformation yet … it was a busy weekend at ArtsyCrafts … and since being home … well to be honest she has been rather neglected. I ensured her well-being while I was away by dressing her in my Ranger U apron … John had spoken of putting her back in a skip …  and I knew he would n’t dare touch my apron! See … I am not as daft as I look!

For those of you wondering how she came to be called Ruby … I have taken a close up piccie of the sticker on her neck … Ruby seemed appropriate!

Finally … on my desk this week is indeed my stash haul from the weekend … look … I have Lord Tim’s Tag Die … you know Tim … the man that can complete an aerial display in a Hercules while painting a replica of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers with just a pigment of pearl and a single stamped image.

Ruby Ruby Ruby!

First things first ... apologies for last week's fiasco ... for those of you that missed it ... I did a stunt jump from chair to floor with my camera in hand ... then while laid sprawled on my back ... on the floor ... I took a second picture. Well ... all the action must have gone to my head ... because I then linked up to WOYWW ... way back to a post in September ... whoops ... so all that drama was for nothing ... I say nothing ... a big Thank you to those of you that eventually found the correct post. It was very much appreciated.

What am I blithering on about ... basically WOYWW ... and if that does n't ring any bells ... Hop along to here ... and Julia ... the glamorous keeper of the desks will tell all.

So ... Onto this week ... desk is very very messy ... in my defence I am working on some rather large projects and have had to lay them on my cutting table to fiddle around and place the finishing touches ... as you do ... and they are not for public viewing as yet.

I also wanted to introduce Ruby ... Is n't she magnificent? ... I found her in a skip in Olney ... a full sized Tailor's dummy ... she is indeed a 36DD and I have big plans for Ruby ... I am going to tattoo her with stamped images and dress her in Grungepaper ... then adorn her with Idea-ology ... I may even do a bit each Wednesday ... so you guys can get to know her as well as I do! John's not keen ... but I just know she will grow on him ... she is soooooooo easy going.

A Tall Tale!

No ... Don't look away ... you have n't got the wrong link ... it is n't deja vue ... this is indeed last week's picture!

I just wanted to remind all you WOYWWers of my aerial shot and thank all you lovely desk hoppers for your concerns.

You see this week ... I was planning on telling a tall tale ... I took pictures and everything! Firstly ... I stood on the chair and waved the camera at the desk ... to get a blurry shot and lead you guys to fall about laughing ... with shock and a  bit of concern too ... obviously.

That was the point that I discovered it is nigh on impossible to blur a shot with a digital camera and this second picture was the best I could do ... as I jumped off the chair ... onto the floor ... in a very daring dare devilish type manner.

The third shot is indeed the result of said action. I lay on my back on the craft room floor and took the final shot ... the plan was ... this would be a post with pictures and no words.

Then it struck me ... if all of you got around the plethora of desks last week ... well you certainly would n't remember my aerial shot and little ole me in particular ... so the "no words" post ... just a heading of #$%^%& would have made no sense whatsoever.

Anyways ... I have clearly failed at entertaining you and will therefore resort to picking at your grey matter instead ... the reality is that I got slightly carried away with filling bottle tops with little pictures etc., and Glossy Accents ... so suggestions please ... What is a girl to do with some of the bottle tops in her bottle top mountain?

I shall do my best to visit all you WOYWWers again today ... and if you have no clue what I am talking about ... check Julia out here ...

Wednesday ... Wednesday!

Is that a song? I am just kidding of course ... and if you did n't visit on Monday or Tuesday ... well ... you are going to think I am nuts! Today is Wednesday and that means it is time for the weekly pilgrimage to Julia's place to have a right old nosey at other people's stuff!

My stuff this week includes these fabulous Dylusions spray inks that the lovely Dy Reaveley gave me to play with at Ally Pally ... so I am ... erm ... playing ... just look at all those yummy colours ... I have also spritzed over the top of a couple of them ... with a Perfect Pearl and water mixture ... I used Lord Tim of Holtz's favourite ... Heirloom Gold ... he told me that was his favourite ... yes I know ... he was on QVC at the time and there was a few million other people watching him as well ... but I choose to believe he was indeed talking to me :0)

I thought I would share my Stampotique haul too ... Are n't they just the dog's dangly bits!

This is indeed my table from yesterday ... not today ... because I shall be doing my Inking Master class at LB crafts today ... this was taken while I was kitting up! I know it is n't really fitting for  WOYWW because it is indeed WOYTT [What's on your table Tuesday?] But you all know how I hate to miss out!

No Excuses!

That is right WOYWWers ... I am not even going to venture into the land of excuse making ... this wet and windy Wednesday! I thought about telling you that there had been a natural disaster in the vicinity of my desk ... I toyed with the idea that I could blame the dog ... or John ... or both ... I even contemplated taking a picture of a tidy desk and sharing that with you ... but when push came to shove ... well this is my desk and yes it is a mess!
For those of you that worried about my drawer opening capabilities ... well fret ye not ... they all open! For those of you that showed interest in the amount of times I opened them ... panic ye not ... these drawers hold supplies that I regularly use ... all to hand ... so I don't have to get up :0)

A quick one from me this morning ... pretty much of a muchness this desk of mine!

Today ... though ... I have tried a different picture angle ... mainly because lots of you last week showed concerned about my lack of knee room ... I promise you ... my knees have loads of room ... it is just the limitations of my photography skills that give the impression that they don't! Having said that ... this picture still does n't really show the foot or so that is between the edge of my desk and those drawers ... still ... I tried!

Size Matters!

I will get onto the whole size thing in a minute!

First up is my desk ... call it messy ... creative ... artistic ... busy ... whatever you like ... the truth is ... from a work perspective ... it is now what I class as a contaminated area ... and decontamination needs to start pretty sharpish... I can bear it no longer!

So WOYWWers ... I may even come back and show you a tidy desk later today ... actually ... you and I both know that aint gonna happen ... I don't even know why I thunk it ... or typed it out loud ... it will take me all day to visit you guys :0)

So ... the whole size thing??? ... well lots of people ... when I say lots ... you guys know me well enough to know that I mean two or three people ... wanted to know the size of my suitcase ... it is 5.5 inches by 4 and a bit inches ... Hands up who thought it was full size! See I told you it mattered!

I am off now to do a spot of photography ... have a fab WOYWW ... and if you have no idea what I am talking about ... Julia ... the overseer of tidy and messy desks the world over will tell you all about it ... here!

I Was Up with the Larks!

Actually ... when I say larks ... I have exercised literary license ... they were indeed pigeons and I have no clue what a lark looks like ... or sounds like ... so ... if they were present ... I did n't notice them!

So now you are wondering why it has taken me this long to post my WOYWW! Well ... I have turned into a techy computer expert person over night and first thing this morning ... I backed up my hard drive! That might sound very insignificant to several of you ... but this is a practice I have been doing for several months on a monthly basis and it was only this morning that I realised both plugs on the back up wotsit contraption had a purpose ...  so I had n't been backing it up at all previously ... yes you can laugh ... go on ... get it out of your system before you get to my comments and laugh in my face :0)

On my desk ... is lots of yummy shopping ... you can see the entire range of Julie Van Oosten's Collection elements ... I purchased them yesterday and the wonderful Lin will be selling them on her stand at Stevenage at the weekend ... get there quick though ... I am telling you this now because I guarantee that as a result of their complete yumminess ... they won't last long! There are spools and everything ... Yes ... Spools :0) Oh and if you are going to Stevenage ... it would be good to know ... just in case we bump into each other ... I may not recognise you without your desk!

I have also zoomed in on a wonderful book that my personal shopper the lovely Karen selected for me ... I have n't had a proper look at it yet ... but Zentangle is a form of meditation ... Who Knew??? Actually fellow WOYWWer Angie probably did ... she is terribly good at them.

I am off now ... but not before I install a blatant plug for our new challenge site Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Thank you soooooo much to all the wonderful people that responded to my rather desperate plea on Monday to join in ... and if you have n't ... joined in ... well there is still time and a wonderful prize is up for grabs. Don't look at me like that neither ... our wonderful leader ... Lady Julia of Dunnit said I could install that plug ... she used to be in a pop group don't ya know :0)

Storage Envy!

When Julia started all this WOYWWing so many moons ago ... I wonder if she realised that a new phenomenon would be born! I am not talking about the gazillions of people that enter each week ... although that is pretty amazing ... no I am talking about storage envy!

I realise I am luckier than most to have a dedicated craft room ... I also realise that I just kind of grew and ... erm ... shopped and ... filled  it ... rather than planning it and now I want a new one!

I have severe case of storage envy and each week as I go visiting desks ... I see a beautiful array of storage facilities and I want to start my room all over again. I see shelves and shelves and trays and hangy bar things and shelves ... all colour coordinating ... Ya see ... I went for the surfaces option ... I have a work desk ... a desk for when friends come over ... which kind of works as a dumping ground the rest of the time ... I have a cutting station ... that compared to last week is relatively tidy and my typing desk ... which ... on a Wednesday ... is where I spend most of my time.

I have a gazzillion and two drawers ... but no really nice storage ...

Still ... enough of me and my storage envy ... What envy do you suffer from? I get food envy as well ... you know ... like in a restaurant when your food arrives and you wished you had ordered your companion's choice ... or is it just me????

Perspective!

Good Morning WOYWWers! and Good Morning World! This is a picture of my desk that conforms to safety standards as outlined here on The Stamping Ground blog where our illustrious leader Julia Dunnit resides!

I look pretty tidy don't I? Bits and pieces laid out as you would expect to find them! Can you tell what it is yet? If you can ... please leave a comment because right of this moment ... I have n't a clue!

Anyways ... back to the post title!

If I step back ... maybe four or five paces ... well  ... that is a whole other story!

I don't look so tidy now ... I have had to move the larger of my blending tool carousels onto my desk as a temporary measure because the cutting station is full of unwanted pieces of cut card and despite it's luxurious sturdiness ... well ... to be honest ... it is beginning to bow under the pressure!

I have taken an arty shot of my Kaiser and Eco paints though ... just so as you know there is an element of organisation in my otherwise chaotic world! And please don't all shout "That aint an arty shot!" It is for me ... David Bailey I am not ... so in focus with caps ... makes it arty from my perspective :0)

I must away ... I am still busy constructing ... but I can't show you that yet ...

Wanted - Desk Tidier!

Mmmm ... not great is it? I remember back in the day when WOYWW first started! I was too shy and embarrassed to blog my desk for all to see ... so I used to link up over at Julia's place ... but hide my desk in my blog archives ... so only the really desperately ... erm ... nosy would see it! Just look how things have changed!!! It is nearly midnight on Tuesday ... I have a packed day ahead of me ... and in order not to miss out ... I have been up since 5.45am and still ... with eyelids drooping ... I am typing out this post with no shame whatsoever!!!

Yes! ... there are stamps everywhere ... Yes! the phone is chucked on the desk where I threw it ... Yes! at some point in the near future it will ring ... I will answer it ... it will bleep loudly and cut the someone off ... basically because once again ... I did n't walk the 10 or so paces to the other end of the room to stick it on the charger! Yes ... the calendar is on my desk ... but No ... it's not on the right date ... Yes the highly coveted WOYWW easel is on my desk ... and No ... once again there is no handmade card in it! Mind you ... it does hold my Lord Tim of Holtz hand crafted tag very nicely indeed ...  you know Tim ... the man that can win the Tour De France on a unicycle with just a smidgeon of Sepia accents and a solitary crystal of Black UTEE!

A Rare Wake-up Call!

We all got an unusual wake-up call here in Cambridge today. An air display!

When I say Air Display ... I actually mean one airplane ... an American Hercules ... with an American test pilot practicing his stunts for Fairford Air show at the weekend ... quite spectacular it was over a bowl of Bran Flakes! For all you Hercules boffins out there ... firstly you have come to the wrong blog and secondly I am not sure if it was a 'J' or a 'K' ... John did say but I got bored at "it's a ..." and switched off ... while still nodding and appearing interested!

This is my desk ... and this is what's on it and if you are wondering why I am showing you ... well I am joining in with the published WOYWW challenge run by the charismatic and very lovely Julia.

Okey Dokey ... I am off to fix a rather annoying and probably ultra obvious solution problem ...

A Quick Look at my Desk!

It is Wednesday ... yes already ... so that means it is time for WOYWW!

Now there are a gazillion entries each week ... there is kind of a new rule ... we are encouraged by The Great One aka Julia to keep it brief :0)

I am a rule girl ... I likes rules ... well some rules anyways ... so ... this is my desk ... bit scruffy with lots missing!!! I did a class yesterday and loads of stuff is yet to be put away! I had a great time though ... blimey did we have a giggle ... Thank you ladies!!!

I have already broken my nekked easel rule ... you know ... always keep a card in there so I have one to hand for emergencies ... Doh! No card!!!

I have broken my calendar rule ... always have the correct date showing ... Doh! It is still on the 1st of July!!!

I have broken my Marie Osmond hand stitched tote rule ... put everything back once you have finished with it ... Doh! The tote is still in the boot of my car!!!

And this post is a bit longer than ... erm ... brief ... Doh! Sorry Julia!!!

I said I liked rules ... I did n't say I was very good at them!!! So c'mon spill ... what rules do you break???

Morning all! Yup ... This is a very early post ... I shall be up bright and early this morning as I will be setting off for a Christmas Screen Workshop at L.B Crafts in Olney. Don't worry ... I have Crackers and Christmas music ... if my ladies don't feel Christmassy by the time they arrive ... they sure will by the time they leave :0)

It is Wednesday ... so here is my Workdesk for all you WOYWWers ... if you have n't a clue what I am talking about ... well you need to pop over and see Julia ... she explains everything so well! Talking of our Julia ... I see she got a mention in Craft Stamper for the fabulousness that is WOYWW ... way to go Julia!

And if you are a WOYWWer ... and you happen across this post ... pretty please will you link me up???

Nothing ongoing on my desk as I am working on secret squirrel stuff ... but you can still see the last card I made ... I popped it in the easel that Julia and Mr Julia made for me ... I am going to keep a card in it at all times ... that way ... I will always have a card when I realise at the last minute it's someone's birthday :0)

I have swung today too ... just to show you that I have replaced my tatty old shelf unit with a cutting station. Sounds posh huh? It is basically a pasting table ... a luxury one mind! ... which I have loaded up with lots of cutting equipment ... plus ... I could fit lots more drawer units under it ... so it made total sense ... to me anyways! :0)

Finally ... I have made a holder to store my new and very yummy Claudine Hellmuth brushes! A very simple construction ... similar to the one I made for the Masterclass in June's Craft Stamper using my Bind-it-all ... but this time ... more red and more butterflies!

I will catch up with you all this evening!
