The Date Anniversary!

ASproject2a1109

I bet you thought I had n't blogged all weekend because he whisked me off to a romantic destination for our 10 year date anniversary? What were you thinking ... Prague? Paris? Venice? Rome?

Those of you that did n't think I had been whisked off ... probably thought I was totally engrossed in my fabulous present and could n't pull myself away? You were probably thinking ... Pink Diamond? Aston Martin? Hot air balloon ride?

I would n't blame you ... I thought 10 years of sharing your life with someone is a pretty substantial amount of time ... the celebration should be pretty substantial too ... Don't ya think?

Well ... if you promise not to laugh ... I will take you through the facts ...ASproject21109

I bought him a humungus clock ... that he loved ... to mark the passing of all the moments we had shared and all the moments we would share in the future. He bought me a paper trimmer ... because my old one squeaked when in use and it annoyed him!

I cleared my diary so we could have a leisurely and romantic breakfast ... he got up early so he could go and play ... erm ... golf.

I spent a relaxing day bathing in soapy bubbles and doing a spot of crafting ... he came home ... fell asleep on the sofa ... dribbling and snoring!

I waited for my invitation to go somewhere romantic for dinner ... with candle light and champagne ... he said ... I will treat you to a chinese take away ... What do ya fancy? No candles ... just trays on laps while he watched the TV!

ASProject2b1109 Then he went out ... to the pub ... alone! To be fair he did ask if I minded! Of course not! ... you have a lovely time!

On Saturday I bought a new pink polo neck ... you know ... as compensation to myself ... I kinda thought it would keep me nice and toastie ... if he ever does surprise me with a trip to the Ice Hotel in Sweden ... he said "You look like that bird out of Scooby Doo in that jumper!" Trust me ... He did n't mean Daphne!

I consoled myself in my craft room ... My intention with this piece was to go all Steam Punk ... it is in fact ... more steam flunk ... I started with the fab pocket watches and the bright background ... and then I got side tracked with the purdy Artistic Stamper butterflies!

You can see plenty of Idea-ology bits ... including the mask ... from Tim ... the man that can build an ice hotel any where in the world ... even in a temperature of 100 degrees ... with a pokey tool, some rock candy crackle and a pair of round nosed pliers!

The hanging contraption is bamboo ... threaded with eye pins ... which in turn have been threaded with beads and attached with jump rings. Don't you just love the colour of the word imagine??? ... well that is triple embossing with Copper embossing powder ... I then added the optical lens and the film strip ribbon.

Have a fab day people :0)

Had such a laugh at your account of your aniversary ...men tend not to be very inspired when it comes to pressies etc ....at least it was practical ...he tried bless him ...but playing golf in the AM and boozing with friends in the PM is a little naughty ...may be you should go away on a crafting retreat next year on your own lol ...I wonder how he would take that.

Love all the clock and cog work on your W of A. xx

Love your crafting, sorry about the anniversary. Hopefully your 20th will be better.

Fab artwork, Linda - really, really like this one :)

Shame about the anniversary but I know the feeling well... mine would go out on the bike and not even buy me a pressie or a card, so I sympathise!

Love the piece you've created - I think I'd class it as Steampunk inspired.

As for the anniversary, you have my sympathy - I know exactly how you feel.

Linda -

Are you sure you're not married to the same man I am? Sure sounds like it - LOL! Sometimes you just have to look at them and say "Are they THAT clueless"? Sigh. But on a brighter note - Fabulous project! Love the way it all came together. What a great piece of art.

Sounds like hubby had a perfect day... for him :D I sypathise except it's fishing that overtake my ones life. not so much when it's cold though. I reckon you should do Angies idea and booger off on a crafting retreat next year ;)

I loves your butterfly art I do, very much steam punk inspired definitely.

And yes, Alice, you may have heard of him and no... sense - a bit much to ask for this week :D

Oh bless you. All I can say is keep smiling [at least then he will wonder what you have been up to while he was out!]. They certainly do come off a different planet don't they? Love the crafting though so at least something good came out of the day. A x

He's a man, what did you expect?!! Never mind Linda, your art is fabulous, as always x

Hey, I'm single and bitter, so I have no sympathy for you! Although at least he bought you a paper trimmer. I mean, come on, that tells you he not only notices what you do but listened when you told him it had broken!

Plus, he doesn't mind your love affair with Tim, so that's pretty cool.

And the art rocks.

OOh bless you, your art work is gorgeous loving it - but the anniversary date doesn't sound like it went quite the way you'd expected! Maybe next year hun - does your other half check your blog - your posting would give him some good ideas!

Ah..be not of sad heart fair friend, for you are not alone in having anniversary (or indeed birthday, any day!) expectations dashed on the rocks of a bokeish reality.

Fab hangy thingy. It seems from all the comments that men are from Mars and if you want something special to happen organise it yourself!

If its any consolation Linda, my Dad used to buy my Mum 21 red roses each anniversary, it was the same as her bouquet, expect after year five when he gave her a rose bush so she could grow her own!!!! Welcome to longterm relationships hun.........in the meantime, artwork fabulous......

A paper trimmer!! Lol!! Hope he brought you some beer mats home from the pub! Lovely piece of art BTW! xx

It was our 37th Wedding Anniversary just over a week ago and I agree with Tinkertaylor. If you want anything special, either pressie or outing, you'd best organise it yourself 'cos the men from Mars won't.

Love the wall hanging piece. The colours are great and so are the embellishments. Where on earth did you get an optical lens from?

Guess you have gotten plenty of input so I won't add mind. I seem to not have the best of luck in the love department.

Oh Linda, you do have a way with words, your postings always bring a smile to my face, coz you make even the sadest and most tragic of things funny.
Sorry HE wasn't the romantic god he should of been..
But you did make the most of your spare time by creating an exqusit piece of art :)
