The Tilda Debate!

Tilda1a

It is official ... Tilda is just like Marmite! You either Love her or you Hate her!

I know several of my regular blog visitors really don't like her ... my daughter included ... So What about you? Do you Love her? Do you Hate her? Go on ... Tell us!

I am not sure, the man that oozes inspiration in his sleep, Lord Tim thought about Tilda cards when he started his journey to discover grunge paper ... but I kinda like the grungy Tilda look ... so mixed them I have :0)Tilda1

You all know I am incapable of crafting without a   Wendy Vecchi stamp at the moment so I have put a few on and the paper is Far East from DCWV.

I distressed the edges ... with my Heidi Swapp distresser ... you thought I would have a Tim one did n't you ... well it is a bit too technical to explain ... but basically the Heidi Swapp one is pink :0)

Finally everything is edged with Vintage Photo and the grunge paper is coloured with Dusty Concord. This card is my entry for the Bling challenge over on The Ginger Snaps Creations Blog ... if you have n't seen the challenges ... you should check them out ... they have some great DT inspiration going on!

That's all folks!

You're so funny Linda with your Marmite reference, which by the way I love! Your card is so cute and I love all the sparkle. I think the one things that bothers me about Tilda is the missing mouth - kinda creepy. But I love your card and the vintage feel you've given it. Thanks for joining us at Gingersnaps!

Have to admit, Tilda's not my cup of tea linda, but your card still looks fab! Love the colour and the flowers and the lace and the distressed edges though! lol! x

Love what you did with the flowers Linda - the Tilda stamp's another matter(!) LOL

Must admit Linda, I am not a fan of the mouthless Tildas, but your flower 'flurry' looks great !! Give me real grunge anyday !!

I don't like her... it's not the lack of mouth thing as that's easily remedied and I love the Gorjuss stamps which also have no mouth. I don't know what it is about them - they give me the creeps in the same way that china dolls freak me out.

Saying that I love the hair you've done on this one - she reminds me of my sister when she was ickle and a complete tearaway... looked innocent but was she heck!! I absolutely love the flower bouquet to the side.

dislike with a passion but as people say, it would be a boring world if we all liked the same stuff.
Appreciate the card and the beautiful work though.

i do like the tilda stamps but i would be too tempted to draw a smiley face on them! it is a beautiful card though

Like the previous comment, I hate them with a passion, they remind me of Hippos!
Love the rest though!

Linda--
No, I don't like the Tilda stamps. I can only handle so much "cute," and for that I'll stick to Sarah Kays and Kettos. I don't know what Marmites are--guess I'll have to google it!

Having said that, your card is lovely--Tilda is a little more acceptable when she's grungy!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE her and have been collecting her for ages xx

Nice card, shame about the Tilda ;) Somebody mentioned Gorjuss, and I think they are cute (and I don't do cute), but the Tilda one's are just 'wrong'. I don't know why really, they just are.

P.S. I don't like Marmite either!

Oh well I really like Tilda (not all of the stamps but most) and I think its because to me she isn't really too cutesy! Love the card, colours are great too and I don't often work with purples... Well done!!

love this post!!

I have to say I am not really a big fan of Tilda, exept maybe one or 2 images..your creation however is just stunning love the lilac and your flowers are just stunning..

I have noticed in a few of the comments people have mentioned the lack of mouth which is the same with the gorjuss girls..I was crafting with a friends 7 year old daughter, who felt the need to add a smile to all her gorjuss images!! (LOL) it really was the funniest thing.

Firstly ... love the bouquet of flowers on the card.

Now the debate ... well I used to hate the images until I got my GS's and DD bought a few of them ...her finished cards I just loved.

The weird thing is that I hadn't noticed the lack of the mouth until others commented on it a while back ...I actually had to check they were right lol and now I see its missing all the time ...shame.

You have a wonderful blog, such gorgeous creations! Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog :o)

I quite like Tilda, although I only have a few of them - I only use them on cards for card making friends though, my non-crafty friends & family don't seem to like them lol. And my son (nearly 7) always says 'but mummy she can't speak or breathe!' whenever he sees Tilda!

Love marmite-hate Tilda's
having said that I like what you've done with her though

Julia Dunnit said...

I don't 'hate' them - I don't have the energy, rather, I have no opinion of them because they don't do it for me at all. (Is that worse really?) BUT I know work and skillwhen I see it and I love your card. Colour genius.

Lovely card - strange that today I found Ginger Snaps and did a card for the challenge x

Cath Wilson said...

Have to admit that I detest them - sorry :( But I do like some of the cute ones. Just can't cope with those with no faces. They remind me of those ugly dolls which were around for a little while and all the kids had them! Sends shivers down my spine. But I do like the cards made with them, lol. You use them well :)

Lorraine said...

well I love the background and the flower but as you can guess I dont like cute but it is a lovely card and thanks for visiting my blog today

Have to say I agree with the marmite comment, the stamps arent my cup of tea but I think your cards are lovely

Hi Linda, as always you can turn your hand to anything and make it look amazing. Brilliant work my friend

I love Marmite but can't really love Tilda (although I don't hate her)! I find the lack of mouth a bit disturbing too - isn't there a story by Stephen King or someone similar about a person who's mouth just disappears? But I have to admit that I love your cards Linda, even with Tilda!!

Chris said...

Now, if you'd drawn a nose and mouth on her...

However, as usual you've done a fantastic job on the card and I love love those flowers.

Great blog post, and I love your blog, thanks for visiting mine :)
The Tilda debate, you're right they are like marmite, I can't stand them, creepy like something out of Dr Who. I feel like adding a speech bubble to them saying "Help I can't breathe!" Saying that your card is fab, love the colouring and the beautiful flowers.

My favourite colour is any shade, hue or tone of purple. and my fave stamps of the moment are WV. I love faces and windswept hair and as always this card is executed beautifully just as we have come to expect.Really the only thing I don't like is Tilda. I can not come to terms with a mouthless female.I've had this problem for a while and each one I look at just re-inforces that. My dear husband( who is not always so dear) says a mouthless female just is not reality!!!!Cheeky so and so.

Must admit I'm not usually keen but this is about the best stamp of her I've seen. It's not just 'cos she doesn't have a mouth though that is the main reason. Lovely card nonetheless Linda ;-)

Yes, it's the lack of mouth that makes me feel squeamish. I keep thining that they MUST have been designed so that the crafter could decide what emotion to use on the card. They can't be meant to look like that can they? (shudder)

Jean Franks Beck said...

This is a wonderful card... love how the big flower bouquet you created echos her headband! No, I'm not really a Tilda gal, but hey, I can DEFINITELY appreciate a well-designed card when I see one!! AND, I also like to dabble in lots of different styles, so I totally get it :)

I love the subtle shades of purple you used for the card. The bling is great. Thanks for playing along with us at gingersnap.
