Simon Says ...

Happy August everyone! At least I hope it is going to be a happier August than the June and July I have just had! Many of you now know that John has gone and I find myself doing the unheard of ... cooking! Yikes! I am happy to say that I have actually cooked a roast and eaten it ... and I am still here to tell the tale! So is the house ... and I did n't set off any alarms or anything! A good start me thinks!
Okay then ... down to business ... Simon Says Stamp and Show a Tag this week! So here is my tag in all of it's glory ... or not as the case may be!
I used Colourwashes through some Grungeboard Alpha waste ... like a stencil ... to create the background. I distressed all the edges within an inch of their lives and then decided to layer the tags on top of each other for a change.
The gorgeous Mannekin is an Art Part from THE Wendy Vecchi which has been painted and then stamped! The stamps and the butterfly are indeed from Lord Tim of Holtz ... you know Tim ... the man that can solve the American Debt Crisis in his sleep while playing Beethoven's fifth on one blade of grass with just a jump ring and the top off a Distress Stain!
As is usual with the challnege ... our ever generous sponsor Simon Says Stamp has donated a $50 shopping spree and to be in with a chance of winning it ... all you need do is enter!
I must away ... I have things like food shopping and stuff to do now too ... I may be some time :0)
Laters!

Lovely tag! I like your idea of using the "waste" alpha as a stencil and all the green is soothing. So sorry about John - praying for you.

Luuurve the tag Linda. Fab colours and brilliant background. Sorry to read your personal news ........ and the fact that you have to start cooking!!! I loathe cooking but still have to do it as it'd be chips or beans on toast every day if I left it to my OH.

Here's to a happier August!

Hugs

Hi Linda - sad to hear the news but having been there and doing it for many years - Tesco meals for one are great; take the washing out the machine as soon as it's done, give it a shake and hang it up - no ironing; keep the lounge tidy (so you always have somewhere decent to sit); you can now do whatever you like in the room you craft in; bed needs changing less; and you are in total control - answerable to no-one. The only other advice I can give is never lose contact with your friends. It's hard in the beginning but you'll get there ....

AWW... so sorry to hear your news... no wonder you have not been around here much, nothing jolly to say!! We are all here for you. You will be grieving no doubt, for what is lost, and I can empathise with that, as my hubby died suddenly 4 years ago on 5th... I know it's not the same, but being on your own feels so unusual eh?? Keep on cooking and all the other stuff for YOU!!!
Love and light

I stumbled upon your blog a few months ago and LOVE it..It always makes me laugh..The little Tim popping out had me. I love your "Lord Tim of Holtz" lines, they are hysterical.
I am sorry to hear you have "split", but know that it will open you up to lots of possibilities when you are ready. I was widowed at 40, and found myself doing things I never thought I would do... On the cooking front: Check out www.thepioneerwoman.com Her blog is hysterical and I know with your humor you will love it..She takes pics of each ingredient of a recipe and does it step by step. I loooooove her beer braised beef with onions (all in one pot..I use my fav Bass Ale...). Thanks for making me laugh with your blog!

So sorry to hear your news, but you are obviously still crafting at full strength and long may that continue! It will be a big upheaval (particularly the cooking part) but here's hoping that something good and better lies ahead.

Hello Linda
Fab piece of work as usual - stunning colours.
So sorry to hear your personal news. Love Sus's words - and M&S do some fab food as well. A bowl of salad and a steak under the grill or a oiece of salmon would be really healthy as long as yoou didn't cover it in mayo!

Keep up the good work - you must be in a horrible place - but having been there and done it, and so many have - I now have a lovely guy and wouldn't change it for the world.
Big cyber hugs
Valxx
