Left-Overs!

Trio1a It has dawned on me that I am going to sound like a right snooty wotsit when I tell you that I don't "do" left-overs! I can't help it! If I could I would ... it drives John to distraction ... but I just can't!

It is probably best if I explain here what I consider to be a left-over! Okay ... so you open a packet of ham ... use a slice ... put the remaining ham back in the fridge ... the ham in the fridge is now left-overs ... and I won't eat it! Don't look at me like that! I know it's bad! I know people are starving! I just can't help it!

Sometimes I would love to revisit a plateful of Chinese takeaway that I could n't eat at the first sitting ... but the truth is ... as soon as it goes cold ... well it's left-overs ... and I cannot bring myself to eat it!

What a waste? I hear you cry ... and you are absolutely right ... but I just cannot help it! Having said all that ... Chocolate is never left-over and can always be returned to!Trio1

Okay ... so now I shall get to the point ... the point is ... this piece is made entirely of left overs ... the left over embossed card stock from my Valentine box ... left over brads from my journal box ... left over Grunge paper from my class kits ... even the frame was half painted and discarded ... the god of left overs would be right chuffed with me today ... I can tell you!

If you are wondering about the lush colours ... well they are Lord Tim of Holtz Adirondack Color washes ... you know Tim ... the man that turn the sea from salt water into chocolate while transforming the clouds into Candy Floss with just a new Mini Mister bottle and a single Idea-ology Foliage element!

Course I would n't be able to swim in the chocolate Sea ... or indeed eat it ... because someone else would have touched it first ... and that is a whole nother issue!

Laters!

I have a freezerful of leftovers that I really was going to eat....

these look fab! love the colours.

i guess different types of left-overs work in different ways :)

years ago, i used to look forward to friday dinner - that was the day i used up all the left-overs from the fridge!

but eating food that someone else has touched ... you're right - a whole nother issue! (or how about food from the deli counter ... someone else may have breathed on it - bleurgh!)

Very pretty Linda. P.S you wouldn't last long with my husband nothing is thrown away, it can be weeks out of date and he will still eat it and never gets sick! Yoghurt is often 3 weeks out of date, but don't worry anyone coming to the house gets fresh!

omgosh, I am usually a stalked on your blog, BUT, I have to comment on your story today! I am exactly the same with leftover food!!! And I consider leftovers the same way as you do! LOL...I annoy everyone, but I just can't get over it, and to be honest, you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!! LOL...I am talking about myself here!

Your work is always so stunning and this is no different!! Woohoo for using your leftovers!!!

So...if in a wee while, when Mr. T is in full flow (in-front of your very eyes) and he's elbowing the scraps, flinging aside trimmings and casting away half-done curiosities, it won't be you stowed away under the craft table with a dust buster and swag bag...
No? Right...- and I'm a WAG...

Those colours are mouthwateringly yummy! So rich and warm. Love all the leftovers you have used. (I am guilty of storing them away and never getting round to using them).

Fabulous hanging Linda.

PS I'm not quite as bad as you with the left overs but I can't open a tin of something and store half in an airtight container. I'd only end up throwing it away. My daughter thinks I am disgustingly wasteful!

Your project is lovely - such gorgeous, rich colours! And well done on using leftovers to make it.

That said, regarding the food leftovers thing... that's definitely a bit wierd!

Your post made me laugh. I have a friend who can't go back to a tub of yogurt once it's been opened. Do you buy your cheese by the slice? It must create a lot of extra work for you, buying things in tiny portions. Or your husband must be on fridge-clearing duty. Or can you bring yourself to transform leftovers into new and different meals? I have to say I'm almost entirely the opposite. I get an almost unreasonable satisfaction from using up the odds and ends from the fridge into a new and different meal. Though I will say that I have learned to tell the children we're having Mélange Surprise for supper instead of Use-Up Casserole.

With you Karen. We have "Take-your-pick" lunch on Saturdays to use up all the odds and ends in the fridge before the "Sunday roast blowout". Then I have sunday roast leftovers reheated for at least one weekday lunch, and everyone has cooked meat sandwiches...

Please don't be prejudiced against leftovers - give them a chance!

Fabulous project! Loving the leftovers, I'm proud of you :D

Great work with your left overs Linda... wish I had left overs like that! I know what you mean about food though, I throw such a lot away (but like you, never chocolate).
