Jack is out of the Box!

WT1

It being Wednesday and all ... it is time for WOYWW ... gather round people ... I have lots to say today ... erm ... for a change ...

The first thing on my desk this morning was this tag ... I made it using only one sheet of wWT1ahite A4 card ... some distress inks and Wendy V's first stamp plate ... Ticket to Art ... if you look closely I have included every stamp from the sheet at least once and it is coloured using only distress inks ... lots of fun ... I might add!

To get all the stamps in ... I added one of the phrases on some copy paper ... distressed it and then rolled it ... so you may have to squint a bit!

WOYWW1301 The second thing on my desk is Jack. I got the idea of naming Jack from the very lovely ... very funny ... and everso slightly Alice mad Carmen. Why Jack??? Well my sisters caved in and bought me Jack about 4 years ago for my birthday ... I really really needed him at the time ... I have decided on Jack ... because he has been in his box ever since! This morning ... and call me ... the sewing lady from now on ... I threaded him up and started using him!

I know ... I know ... the sewing is pretty bad ... Jack is n't very straight ... but even Versace had to start somewhere!

Now c'mon you people ... go find Julia ... follow her instructions and get flashing your work desk so the world and her mother can see what you are up to :0)

Driven to let Jack out of the box eh? And can we count on you to morph into a fabric stamping padded journal mixed media gal any minute then?

Jack is it?! Mine had a name beginning with B and ending with From Hell. He ended up in the bin! As for the sewing not being straight well, it's supposed to be distressed, isn't it? Love the tag BTW.

Oh another sewer in the making :-) Hope Jack plays nicely and you have as much fun with him as I do with mine.

Firstly fabulous tag of course of course ;) I'm going to waffle a bit now hehe. I've been sewing for years and years and years and I still find it difficult to sew a straight line! I bought my first machine when I was about 21 and had it for many years; 20 odd years; I passed it onto DD and when she was moving it got dropped down a flight of stone steps but still worked perfectly, however the bit for winding bobbins had been broken off. Then it got stolen shortly afterwards after having to put some stuff into storage. I bought my 9 year old granddaughter a sewing machine for Christmas which looks just like yours but for the name. She decided she wanted to do some sewing last night so I cut a bag and straps out of felt and she sewed them up. I had to use my machine to sew the straps on 'cos hers couldn't cope with the thickness of fabric. We didn't bother turning over a bit at the top of the bag 'cos I didn't want it to take too long and as it's felt it doesn't fray. I sewed a flower on and put her name on in glitter so she's now the proud owner of a little bag which she took to school today with her drink in :)

Linda,

Your tag is just gorgeous - and Jack's the man!

Can this really be the first time I have found and visited your blog? We must be on groups together or something because your name is so familiar to me! Anyway I am now following and looking forward to exploring your site when I have a little more time! Hope you'll visit me too when you have a moment!

Ramona :-)

Fab offerings today Linda, although I'm jealous of Jack. He does zigzag, but my machine has decided it's straight lines and nothing else! xx

oooooh you are really loving those colours at the mo aren't you? and I love the things you are making with them. Mind you, it does make me feel a bit sick that I can't make inky things the way you do!

I just adore your tag - love how you have cut the top out. Is your machine a special little one - Jack looks so neat. I have a 'normal' sized one, which I am afraid to use for sewing paper and card in case I break it - having a little Jack might be just what I need -or else I could get brave and use my big one.

Fab tag Linda! Love it!

I have a Jack too would ya believe? Wanted one for ages so that I didn't have to keep trundling my proper big sewing machine out of it's hiding place so I got Jack just before at the beginning of December and...... .................He's still in his box!!!! Mind you I've at least another 3 years 10 months and blrrggg days to beat you, Lol!

BTW Linda, you're a star for visiting my 'baby's (Hee! Hee!) new blog and giving him some encouragement. Thankyou.

Loving the fab tag. You make me feel so guilty my sewing machine is at the back of the cupboard it came out at xmas for 10 mins so I could alter my party dress (1/2hr before said party!) and was put away swiftly before hubby got the idea I may alter the 3 pairs trouser he's been wait for me to since last July! i like the tag and the fact that you did it all with inks only. I really fancy getting dirty with inks. I have something in a bottle with a dropper but cant remember what it is. Its in the garage and hasn't made its way back in the house (yet)...

you've set me off now.

I love stitching on cards. Somewhere I have a sewing machine, now where did I put it? :)

Katy said...

Well done Linda - mine's still in the box from about 3 years ago (hangs head in shame...)

Ive not quite got as far as real stitches on cards!! Love love loving your tags they are stunning x

thanks for visiting and your lovely comment. great tag!

I think real stitching on cards is just a bit too clever. My machine doesn't actually stop when I take my foot off the pedal so that would make things a little difficult.
Your space look most productive!

You truly amaze me with your creations Linda. The time you make and find to do so much. Thank you for your lovely comments on my blog and for taking the time to visit me. I appreciate it. Is it a matter of 'Jack's back'?! I have got one too which hasn't seen the light of day! You have inspired me. Maybe I will use it to stitch on a layout - 3 years out of fashion but hey...I can recycle the trend again. LOL. TFS. ~Glen~
