If I work on a scale of 1 to 10 on the mother's pride'ometer ... well I was nine million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine times more proud than I ever thought possible.
I could never be described as a shrinking violet and on Wednesday ... as the list of names was read out in Cambridge ... there was clapping and the odd shout as daughter's and son's graduated. I was determined to Whoop and Cheer as loudly as I possibly could when Samantha's name was called ... I wanted everyone to know just how proud I was ... the moment arrived ... she started her walk across the stage ... I opened my mouth ... a lump appeared in my throat ... my eyes welled up ... and I could n't manage a sound ...
Here is a girl that has worked relentlessly hard at her education ... no tests, exams or assignments came particularly easy for her. She is practical and sensible and beautiful ... but could never be described as particularly academic. This picture represents the fact that if you want something badly enough and you are prepared to work hard enough ... well anything is possible!
We had a lovely meal to celebrate ... time to put your feet up was the thought on everyone's minds ... you have a wedding to plan ... Oh no! ... not my Samantha ... we had hardly finished our starter when she announced that the next step is a master's degree ... I shall be taking a football rattle to that one ... trust me!

Congratulations, Linda! You have every right to be proud! Your daughter is lovely! She reminds me of my oldest daughter--lovely, sensible--and at a university right now, too! I understand not being able to make a sound at that moment...I wish her so much success! Enjoy every moment, and have a wonderful day!
What a lovely post, you must be very proud x
This surely is one of life's treasured moments. All the battles with the terrible two year olds and tantrums of teenage years are simply forgotten when this moment arrives. If you surprised yourself at how emotional you felt on graduation day....start preparing now for the wedding day!!!! Congratulations Linda and of course to your daughter too.
Huge congratulations to you and your daughter Linda!
I wonder why we are always surprised when the emotions of these 'special' moments catch us?
Personally, I still find my heart missing a beat when I see old photos of my boys when they were small, I can remember how it felt to hold them and I just well up with love.
ooooooo Linda she looks stunning and proud, so pleased to hear you were lost for words and at least you never laughed else goodness me you would of got thrown out or carted away LOL what a memorable occassion and good for Samantha xx
Wonderful Linda! and you are rightly very proud, I often think that these youngsters who have to work hard at it, to get their qualis etc, end up better than the very 'bright lights' who take it for granted, very much so with my sister's daughter; they are to be admired: Congratulations Samantha, what did she graduate in Linda?
Have a fab weekend of celebrations! Nettie x

Oh I know how you feel, it is the most wonderful feeling in the world, I was bursting with pride when Aimz graduated. Not sure if I could go through another 3 years, but if I did I would take the rattle , the loud hailer and a box of tissues! Congratulations to Samantha and yourself! It is a milestone in your history, forget it not!
What a proud Mum you must be ...I so wish her luck with her next step ...she must love the subject or maybe she has discovered that she loves to study.

It's the best feeling ever when your child graduates isn't it. The history, ceremony, the whole shebang. The only thing that beats it is when a grandchild is born!
